May 2024 Newsletter: Traws Eryri, Park run & more!

We are so bad at this, we haven’t done a newsletter for ages. It is now May 2024 and the Traws Eryri cycle route (Traws Eryri | Cycling UK)  is now a part of our daily lives here at the Cross Foxes. Designed by Cycle UK this magnificent route involves 200 kms of challenging riding with 4424 meters of climbing. Just in time for the intrepid riders attempting this new route we now have a drying room, safe bike store and an e-bike charging bank. And, breaking news, we are offering a new service: we will take you to the start and transport you back and forth during your ride. This allows you the comfort of your room at Cross Foxes every night (and the lovely food and drink!) and enables you to ride light. It also means you can extend or curtail every day at any time as you wish.  Inclement weather and changing circumstances mean you can adapt. We are on call to collect you at any time. No more lugging all your gear with you. Free secure parking here and all the benefits mentioned above.

Regular guided walking starts on the 18th May. The first one is Arenig Fawr and starts from the Cafe here at 8.30. Local mountain goat is Rob Atherton is guiding us. Let us know and order yourself a pack lunch now.

Parkrun: we have been talking to the very helpful people at Parkrun (www.parkrun.org.uk) about setting up our very own run in Trawsfynydd. It is going to be difficult. They are very safety conscious and understandably no parkrun goes near a road (hence their name!). With the bridge being out of commission at the moment we are going to find it hard to get a route that would fit the bill. If the bridge were fixed we believe it would be a great opportunity and quite a unique course!

Yr hen swyddfa post: (the old post office in English) is now part of the Cross Foxes Offering. It can be rented as a separate unit and will sleep up to 12 in comfy new beds. There is only one shower and toilet at the moment but very cosy, warm and clean: with a small kitchenette with all the basics. Out the back is a small garden to which we will very soon add a lean to, seating and a log burner. Suit groups that don’t want to camp but also don’t want to spend a fortune. You can use all the hotel facilities.

The Cross Foxes is buzzing at the moment!
